Every year the U.S. Department of Agriculture asks a team of economists to estimate what it will cost the average American family to raise a child from birth through age 17. This year's study estimates it will cost somewhere around $291,570 up from $233,530 in 2000. And this doesn't even include college expenses. Yikes!
As a father of 5 children ranging in age from 23 to 13, I know first-hand how expensive kids can be. My 23 year old daughter is a brand new mother. She's finding out for herself. When I told her about this study, she just smiled and shrugged. What's a mother to do?
