I admit it...I have a crush on Catherine Mulbrandon at Visualizing Economics. Well, maybe not on her personally, but I love her infographics. She did her undergraduate in economics at the University of Chicago and went on to do a masters in design at Carnegie Mellon. Her work has appeared in all sorts of places like MSNBC, Slate, The Big Picture, Seeking Alpha, and NPR among others.
Catherine recently published a fantastic book called An Illustrated Guide to Income in the United States. Okay...so maybe the the title is something only an economist can love, but the charts and graphs are really good. For a taste of her work, scroll through the following progression of slides to see who makes the real money in modern America. The answer may not surprise you, but the magnitude of it all blew me away.
