Last week, former Senator Alan Simpson and former White House Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles did something remarkable for a couple of Washington insiders--they told the American people the truth. As they made the rounds of all the big new shows, Bowles and Simpson were refreshingly blunt. Bowles said, "The era of deficit denial is over." Simpson said, "We are slipping into what other [nations] perceive is a totally chaotic fiscal situation."
While you may not agree with their ideas on how to tame the federal deficit, you have to appreciate their candor. Take a look at this interview with Charlie Rose.
